Beijing Urban Construction Group held the opening and closing ceremonies of the 7th Workers’ Sports Meet at the National Olympic Sports Center on September 15. The group expects to stimulate the vitality of sports with health for all and unite forces with exercise by all to spur all staff to stay true to their original aspiration, keep firmly in mind their mission, and work hard and forge ahead, in a bid to jointly write a new chapter of high-quality development.

Zhang Hui, the Party branch secretary and general manager of UCI, and Sun Wei, deputy general manager and chairman of the trade union, led a team of 30 athletes from the company in the parade during the opening ceremony, showing the charm of sports and the company’s ambition together with approximately 8,000 employees.

The sports meet has been the largest, longest, and most diverse event since the establishment of the group. It is the first time for UCI to independently participate in the sports meet. Since the sports meet kicked off on April 19, a total of 104 athletes from Beijing headquarters, as well as branches and joint ventures outside the city, have participated in 12 competitions around the tenet of "unity, health, harmony, and endeavour". This shows the results of high-quality development and the spirit of staff. UCI left an indelible mark in the 40th anniversary celebrations of the group.

Since its inception, UCI has consistently prioritized the physical and mental health of its employees and has organized a variety of cultural and sports activities, such as reading clubs, brisk walking and badminton games, via the employee assistance program (EAP). It even held the first fun sports meet for employees in June 2023, further boosting team members’ morale of striving to become top-notch employees while creating a strong atmosphere of joyful work and happy life.

The uplifting moments at the group’s sports meet are bound to inspire UCI’s employees to further roll up their sleeves and redouble their efforts. With a healthy body, high morale, and a determined attitude, they will make new achievements in the journey of high-quality development of China's digital transportation and digital cities.
