Recently, the National High-Quality Engineering Award Expert Evaluation Committee conducted a review of the second group of National High-Quality Engineering Award for 2022-2023 according to National High-Quality Engineering Award Evaluation Methods. After evaluation and publicity, Kunming Subway Line 4 Project constructed by UCI obtained “National High-Quality Engineering Gold Award”.

The National High-Quality Engineering Award was established in 1981. Recognized by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, it boasts the earliest and highest national quality award for various industries and fields in engineering construction in China. The highest award is National High-Quality Engineering Gold Award. From 1981 to 2022, a total of 215 projects have won National High-Quality Engineering Gold Award.

Kunming Subway Line 4 is listed in the First Group PPP Projects in Kunming and the Second Group of PPP Demonstration Projects of Ministry of Finance. Besides, it is the first subway project invested in, constructed and operated by UCD. UCD undertook system equipment as well as project operation, maintenance and management. UCI undertook five major professional systems of Project B, i.e. “signal system, dedicated communications system, automatic fare collection system, comprehensive monitoring and platform door system”, and innovatively applied “cloud traffic automation system” to the project.

In the urban rail transit industry in China, Kunming Subway Line 4 firstly completes large-scale construction of a full weak current systems under cloud computing platform architecture. It not only replaces the chimney-style architecture of traditional urban rail transit business system with a cloud-edge-end collaborative architecture, but also integrates platforms and resources. This truly achieves resource sharing, on-demand allocation and flexible expansion, and increases the utilization rate of hardware resources of Kunming Subway by more than 50%. With early investment saved by about 40% and operation & maintenance labor costs saved by over 30%, Kunming Subway Line 4 realizes unified data collection, cleaning, mining and application for multiple professional systems. The successful practice of “cloud traffic automation system” on Kunming Subway Line 4 reshapes the core competitiveness of urban rail transit weak current system in China, in which UCI plays a leading role in the area of “urban rail transit cloud”.

National High-Quality Engineering Award advocates the construction philosophy of “pursuing excellence and forging classics”.
