On April 26, 2024, at 10:16 AM, Qingdao Metro Line 6 Phase I project, co-constructed by UCI, officially went into operation. The opening of Qingdao Metro Line 6 addresses the north-south transportation gap in Qingdao’s West Coast New Area, significantly improving travel efficiency for residents. This milestone propels the West Coast New Area into a new phase of coordinated and high-quality development, and provides more convenient rail transit support for the construction of the state-level new area.
Qingdao Metro Line 6 Phase I is China’s first smart metro demonstration line, Qingdao’s first driverless metro line, and the industry’s first line using the Train Autonomous Circumambulate System (TACS) for core technology. As a participating entity in this project, UCI was responsible for building the cloud platform and big data platform for Qingdao Metro Line 6 Phase I project.
Qingdao Metro Line 6 Phase I cloud platform, as Shandong Province’s first cloud platform in the rail transit industry, enables on-demand allocation, unified management, and centralized monitoring of computing, storage, network and security resources. It effectively supports the stable operation of over 30 subsystems (for smart operations, smart stations, power smart dispatch, video surveillance, etc.) and eight smart operation and maintenance services (i.e. power supply, electromechanical, escalators, platform doors, vehicles, signaling, communication, and environmental control).
Leveraging the cloud platform, UCI also developed a big data platform for the production network. This platform provides robust data storage, data management, and data model development capabilities for eight smart operation and maintenance services, thus effectively breaking down data barriers between business systems. It enables efficient data flow and sharing, and creates a mechanism to continually convert business data into valuable assets, which then support business operations and drive the in-depth implementation of Qingdao Metro’s digital transformation strategy. This improves Qingdao Metro’s operational efficiency and propels its digital development.
Moving forward, UCI will continue leveraging advantages in digital technologies such as cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence. This will further advance the comprehensive, green, safe and intelligent development of urban transportation systems, invigorate Qingdao’s transportation network, and support the city in building a three-dimensional and modern transportation network to meet the growing urban transportation demands.
